So kudos to Bendis for trying creating his own original material, but I’m having trouble getting attached to the Sentry character, even though he was pretty much seamlessly retconned into the Marvel history by claiming that he made everyone forget who he was to protect them from his omnipotent nemesis and alter-persona, the Void. I’m still not entirely sure what this guy’s superpowers are supposed to be, apparently he’s some bastardized version of Superman that absorbs radiation and has the expected spectrum of superpowers (speed, strength, invulnerability), it seems his only weakness is his mind. Kinda strange because they keep killing his wife to keep him down, but she keeps popping back up in different Avengers books. Most recently she was killed by an ultra-hot version of Ultron looking like the Wasp, except all Frank Cho’ed out with Sheena sized tracks of land. This was a bit of a shocker. Last time, they killed Bob’s wife, he flew Carnage into space and ripped him in half, but in Mighty Avengers #4, all he did was cower on the ground like a baby, and no Void threat for some reason.
I’m digging the new Avengers team, even though they’re all playing for the wrong side. The
addition of Ares is a fun aside and his little rage outbursts are always fresh and funny. Cho’s work is a visual splendor, I can’t get enough. Like the Dodsons, I wil nab everything this guy puts out. Cho has an uncanny sense of how to draw the perfect idealized woman, he could go down as being one the great pinup artists of our generation. Here’s me hoping he does a stint on X-Men. Anyway, orginally I was talking about the Sentry, but then I got off topic…jebus, look at Captain Britain’s sister, eeuhde-eeuhde-eeuhde, fuck it, the end.
